The All India Plastics Manufacturers' Association (AIPMA) established in 1945 is the largest apex body to promote the development of Indian Plastic Industry and it also aims to assist the growth of plastic related materials and products globally.
Indian plastic industry consists of 50,000+ units of which around 3,500 units are exporters and expected to reach to 1 million manufacturing units by 2027. The Turnover of the Indian Plastic sector currently is US $ 125 Billion and is believed to reach to US $ 250 Billion by 2027.
With 14 kg per capita consumption of plastics at present, the Industry provides employment to 5 million employees currently which is expected to rise to 10 million and per capita consumption to 25 kgs by 2027.
Current exports of plastic value added products from India is around US $ 8 Billion. With changing economic landscape and support provided by Government of India, exports of plastic value added goods is expected to reach to US $ 25 Billion by 2027.
